REVENGE is sweet and it's something the Medway-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey team want to taste this Sunday when they attempt to make Isle of Wight pay for last weekend's cup defeat. Facing off in the English Premier Cup for the second time in two weeks, the Mos will be confident that they can avenge the 3-1 defeat they suffered on the Raiders' notoriously small home ice.
In the last game, a thunderous slapshot by Peter Nyman hit Elliot Andrews on the ankle and Peter Korff suffered bruising to his ribs and arm after being slammed in to the boards. Both are battling back to fitness but are doubts for this crunch match against the very players who put them out of action. But the pair will be back for the second clash in the league against Solihull next Saturday.
The Raiders will be keeping their fingers crossed that new netminder Andy Moffat, who picked up the man of the match award against the Mos in the last game, stays fit. For they are without a replacement netminder after announcing on Wednesday that just a week after signing Moffat for the departed Toby Cooley, Craig Wynn has left to join Swindon.
Team manager Andy Mason said: "Raiders are not as tough on the road as they are on their small home ice but it will still be a hard game. They have recently resigned Andy Pickles who has played for Great Britain and is a good utility player, although defence is his real strength. Plus with experienced old-hands like Darcy Cahill and Luc Chabot they'll make a real game of it."
