Experienced rider Keith Walker rode a quick time to clinch round two of the Wigmore CC Evening 10 mile time trial event.
Walker won the event in 23 mins 33 secs, which is an average of 25.478 mph, in a race that included 10 sharp 90 degree turns in 10 miles.
This was the Wigmore CC rider’s fourth victory this year in Kent and is now certainly a man who could win the series outright this season.
Riders lining up for second round of the Wigmore CC TT series on Wednesday were again greeted with very cold and windy weather, but unlike round one, the wind was in a more favourable direction, enabling riders to cover the 10 mile course one minute or so quicker than last week.
Phil Appleby (Wigmore CC) finished second, just 29 seconds off the winner with a very respectable 24.02. This result, along with Phil’s second place last week, puts him top of the series on points so far, but with another 16 events to run this season, and with riders taking their best 10 results, there will be a few challenging for overall honours this year.
Tom Odell completed the third step of the podium with very quick 25.13 using a standard road bike.
Kate Savage was the fastest lady again, notching up her second victory in as many weeks.
Frankie Finch was again the fastest Junior rider getting very close to the 20mph average with a 30.11. A calmer night might see him break the 30 minute barrier soon.
Next week’s event will probably see a full field as the event is a inter club event with the Medway Velo Cycling Club.
