Queens Park Rangers agree to let Jay Emmanuel-Thomas stay at Gillingham for the rest of the season

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been given the green-light to continue the season at Gillingham.

Queens Park Rangers have the option to call their player back from his season-long loan during the January transfer window.

But QPR boss Ian Holloway has told his Gills counterpart Ady Pennock that he won’t be requiring the 26-year-old for the rest of the season.

Emmanuel-Thomas is Gills’ leading scorer this season and there were fears he could have returned.

QPR are struggling in the Championship and are looking for extra options upfront.

Pennock confirmed that Emmanuel-Thomas would be staying during Thursday morning’s pre-match press conference.

He said: “I have spoken with Ian Holloway and Jay will be with us until the end of the season. They said they are not going to take him back.

“He is getting games here and they are happy. He is a talented boy.”

Earlier this week Pennock confirmed that Baily Cargill had returned to Bournemouth following his loan and striker Frank Nouble had been released.
