GILLINGHAM manager Ronnie Jepson admits his side are missing the spark that Matt Jarvis used to add.
Jarvis left the club in the summer to join Wolves and Jepson knows replacing him is no easy task.
"We’re trying to find someone but they don’t grow on trees," he said. "They’re much sought after players because they can change the game in an instant. You keep looking and searching and enquiring and that’s what we’re doing."
Jepson felt such a player could have made Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Walsall a lot more comfortable.
He said: "Maybe we were missing a Matt Jarvis, an out and out winger who you can get the ball to and can go and exploit situations.
"If we had something similar to that, when Walsall were throwing caution to the wind, we would have got another goal on the break. That’s what you miss but you can’t have everything."
Jepson is fishing around for new talent and, with the transfer window shut, he is keen to exploit the loan market.
He said: "We’ve asked the questions and we’re just waiting for people. Now the window has closed we might get a bit of fruition."
