Justin Edinburgh was again left asking questions of his team’s finishing after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Leyton Orient.

The Gills boss demanded a more ruthless approach after last weekend’s loss at Barnet and was asking for more again at Dartford in midweek.

He said: “We made a really good start to the game and there was a lot of possession in good areas, chances again, but just not that real belief that we are going to dispatch those chances.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s a pre-season friendly or any fixture, when you have that amount of possession and play for that amount of time in an opposition half then you have to capitalise on it.

"If you don’t then they have a half-chance, a shot, and it rolls into the bottom corner, that’s what happened. We are then chasing the game and a bit disheartened from going behind.

“The second half didn’t really get going for either side. There were chances there but we’re just not being ruthless or clinical or taking responsibility. It is like we are trying to play an extra pass or it being the perfect opportunity to score. We look a bit anxious in front of goal but that has to change.

“There were good signs from Joe (Quigley) and Cody (McDonald) and we got into some good areas. Hessy was good, Byrne was getting forward and both full-backs were supporting well.

“But when you have that amount of possession and those half-chances, you need to be looking to dispatch one or two.”
