Conor Wilkinson levelled for Gillingham late on in their friendly match against Folkestone Invicta.
Boss Steve Lovell included most of his senior pros at Folkestone while a younger squad made the trip to Sheppey.
The Gills found themselves a goal down in the first half, with Ade Yusuff netting just before the break, but Wilkinson’s strike 14 minutes from time made it 1-1.
Liam Nash tried his luck for the Gills early on but missed the target before Elliott List went closer, spinning in the box and shooting narrowly wide.
Luke O’Neill had a free-kick deflected wide and at the other end Jerson Dos Santos fired an effort at keeper Tom Hadler.
Former Gills defender Callum Davies made a good tackle to deny the busy List an opportunity. The Gills man also had appeals for a penalty turned down.
Moments before the interval the hosts struck, exchanging passes with Dos Santos before finishing from close range.
Wilkinson put an early header wide for the Gills in the second half and Dean Parrett was denied by the keeper, after a good run.
Navid Nasseri went close for the visitors while at the other end Kieron McCann went close.
With 76 minutes gone the Gills were level, scoring on the break after Parker found Wilkinson on the edge of the box. Wilkinson’s left-footed effort found the bottom corner.
Brandon Hanlan almost won it late on for the Gills, getting on the end of a Gabriel Zakuani header off a corner, but keeper Nick Shaw made a great save.
