Justin Edinburgh is hoping his Gillingham side can learn from disappointments against Wigan and Doncaster

Gills boss Justin Edinburgh believes his young squad need to learn faster.

In successive games they have lost 2-0 leads and with it the opportunity to take a strong position at the top of League 1.

Instead they have just one point to show from trips to Wigan and Doncaster, slipping to third after the weekend draw.

Edinburgh said: “We have to do better and we will get that experience from these situations.

“The only way you can learn is in matches, you can’t teach people how to see games out.

“We are young and we have been punished but we looked absolutely superb for long periods of time.

“This is a young group and they are learning but they have to learn a bit quicker than they are.

“It is going against us at the moment but we have courage, we have enthusiasm and players are playing with a real vibe.

“We will get through this and out of it but it’s been five points lost out of the two games rather than a point gained. It’s been tough to take.”
