Leon Legge was a Wembley loser in 2011 and is desperate to be a winner in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy this time around.

The 29-year-old was part of the Brentford team that lost 1-0 to Carlisle in the final three years ago.

Gillingham face Bristol City in the first leg of the area final on Tuesday and the winners of the tie head to Wembley on March 22.

“When you come this far you just have to go for it,” said the big defender.

“I have been in the final before and lost. It would be nice to put the record straight and win it this time.

“The atmosphere was like nothing before. Wembley is a big stadium, especially when you walk out and look around and see how big it is. It is indescribable."

It will be Gills’ third meeting with the League 1 big guns at Priestfield this season. Both of their previous meetings, in the league and FA Cup, resulted in wins for Bristol City

Legge said: “We have played them enough now to know what we are up against and we will definitely give them a run for their money. We owe them one and hopefully it’s third time lucky."
