Defender Leon Legge is confident Gills will soon be climbing out of the League 1 relegation zone.
Legge was given the sponsors’ man-of-the-match award after his thumping 44th-minute header from Jake Hessenthaler’s corner earned a 1-1 draw against Crawley.
The centre-half could have had a hat-trick on another day, sending a header just wide and seeing an effort blocked on the line.
He felt Gills should have won based on their second-half performance and believes results will improve given the football they are playing under Peter Taylor.
Legge said: “It was nice to score a goal like that. It was just a shame we didn’t get the win.
“Second half was one-way traffic really.
“We seemed to have more and more chances and I can’t remember Stuart Nelson doing much in the second half.
“The goal just before half-time gave us momentum for the second half and we came out with a bit more belief (that) we could go and win the game.
“The gaffer tries to instill in us to play football in the right areas and we are a better footballing team than we have been in the last season or so, and we’re creating good chances from it.
“We’re not really having the rub of the green at the moment but once we get that win we desperately need, I think we’ll start climbing the table."
