Gillingham boss Steve Lovell has given forward Elliott List the licence to thrill.
List was taken off midway through the second half and Gills boss Lovell wants to see the pacey front-man taking a gamble more often.
He beat his man on a couple of occasions against Peterborough and Lovell wants to see him being more direct, more often.
“He is a talent but he seems a little apprehensive when he gets the ball,” said Lovell.
“He is quick, he can beat people and he proved that when he did it but he doesn’t do it enough. He will pass it back and give it to someone else.
“I will say to him, ‘look, take people on, if you lose it, you lose it’.”
It was List’s first start on Saturday since the home game with Bury three months ago.
Lovell does rate the 20-year-old livewire highly though.
He said: “He is young and he is a great talent, he will be an excellent player, but it comes through experience and playing.
“The more he plays the more he will be able to do things and learn through it.”
