Northampton Town have captured Gillingham’s released defender Harvey Lintott.
The 19-year-old has agreed a one-year deal with the Cobblers, with the option of a second, after he was made a free agent this summer.
Northampton boss Jon Brady says he sees plenty of potential in Lintott after having him on trial at the League 2 club for the past fortnight.
Lintott came through Gills’ academy and last season made six league appearances, including two starts.
He played under current boss Neil Harris in the game at Charlton in March but was released at the end of the season.
Brady said: “We have been impressed with what we have seen.
“He has a lot of potential, he played a number of times in League 1 last season and acquitted himself well.
"He is strong and powerful and he is an athlete, the type of full back who can get up and down.”
He was on the Gills released list along with another former youth player Gerald Sithole, who has since signed for League 1 Bolton to initially play for their B side.
Lintott could be back at Priestfield with his new team when the sides meet in the league on November 12.
