Gillingham have been drawn away to Millwall in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
The draw was made in Vietnam on Friday and pairs Gills with Neil Harris' Championship side.
It means Gills boss Steve Lovell will come up against one of his former clubs, having played for the Lions between 1983 and 1987.
This year’s draw was unseeded, with Gillingham among 34 clubs in the south section, while the main rule change has seen extra-time scrapped in every round bar the final.
First-round ties are scheduled to take place in the week beginning August 13.
Gills fell at the first hurdle last season, losing 2-0 to Championship club Reading.
