Elliott List is thriving off his new found confidence.
The pacey forward played 26 games last season before registering a senior goal and then struck one in each of Gillingham’s last two league games.
He’s continued that goalscoring form in pre-season, netting one of the goals in the 5-1 win over Bromley and adding a couple more to his tally against Dartford on Tuesday night.
The 21-year-old said: “I feel fit and it’s nice to get on the scoresheet. I have got three goals now in pre-season. I am just trying to get minutes under my belt, trying to get fitter and fitter for the start of the season.
“I want to pay upfront, I love it up there and so I need to keep scoring goals and showing I am useful up there.
“I am enjoying every minute of it, I didn’t want the game (on Tuesday) to end. We have got a 90 coming up on Saturday and that will be a good test as well.
“The more goals you score the more confident you are going to be and no matter who you are, of course it is going to help.”
List opened the scoring for the Gills at Dartford, with a header, before doubling the lead with a well-taken goal just minutes later.
Describing those goals, he said: “It was a great ball from Luke (O’Neill for the first goal) and a great header as well. I saw it coming, I was in space and I put it in the corner. The other one, Stevo (Bradley Stevenson) put me through, I chopped back inside and tucked it away.”
