Darren Marsden has arrived at Maidstone Road to give Chatham some extra bite in the final third.
Boss Paul Piggott felt that was lacking on Monday night as they lost to Faversham Town.
The visitors scored a last-minute winner through Liam King to leave Chatham five points adrift of safety in Ryman League, Division 1 South.
Speaking about his new addition, Piggott said: “He’s been with Whitstable this season and had a game at Ramsgate and comes here with plenty of experience.
“He’ll add guile and nous in the attacking third and that is something we lacked in our last game.”
Marsden is likely to make his debut on Saturday against Sittingbourne.
Piggott felt his side deserved a share of the spoils against Faversham, which was one of three successive games against Kent sides, which he hopes will bring some reward.
“It was a kick in the teeth,” said the manager. “We deserved something and played well but we just didn’t have enough quality in the final 15-20 minutes.
“It was a 100 times better than the weekend (when Chatham lost 6-1 to Carshalton) and it was important we got that reaction.
“As disappointing as it was to lose, the lads put a shift in and we will take that disappointment onto Sittingbourne and look to get a result.”
