Gillingham left-back Joe Martin has signed a new two-year contract.

The defender won the players' player-of-the-year award at Priestfield last season and was named in the League 2 team-of-the-year.

Gills boss Martin Allen said: "Last season, Joe was quite simply amazing.

"As a person, he is conscientious, hard-working, dedicated and he has a desire to play higher.

"He has all the attributes, on and off the field, to get better and better."
