Medway followed up October’s win at Sutton & Epsom with their second success at the Surrey side's expense this season - a 37-26 victory in Regional 2 South East.
Early pressure from the visitors called for interventions from Medway’s No.8 Todd Johnson and scrum-half Ben Dance before Jordan Stubbington forced a penalty and fly-half Owen Church-Mills stepped up to convert.
Sutton responded with an impressive team try, followed by their second touchdown from a tactical kick. Both were converted for a 14-3 lead.
The hosts hit back in style when Harry Gibbons, hooker Josh Knight and front-row duo Ryan Eastley and Jack Nickalls combined to set up centre Sean Mariott for a try under the posts.
Church-Mills added the extra two points, but an injury to Eastley - Deji Oyesola replacing him - along with a yellow card for Dance put Medway on the back foot and Sutton bundled over against the 14 men for their third try of the day. A Church-Mills penalty left the hosts eight points behind at the break.
When the visitors conceded another penalty Church-Mills reduced the gap to five points, before a brilliant Oyesola try and the extras gave Medway the lead again. Picking up the ball with strength and skill from the base of a ruck, Oyesola split the defence for an excellent score.
Sutton kept the pressure on, and a well-taken fourth try from a solid scrum put them back in front - only for Oyesola to cross the whitewash again. Another Church-Mills conversion with five minutes to go put Medway 30-26 up, and with the momentum on their side, John Sipawa’s offload to Dan Jackson paved the way for the fourth home try.
Medway, in sixth, are at Old Colfeians this Saturday.
