Gillingham have two midfield players battling to be fit before the start of the season.
Armani Little picked up an injury and isn’t expected back training until the week before the season starts against Carlisle United while Ethan Coleman needs a scan on his own ankle injury that isn’t getting any better.
Report: Youth player named man-of-the-match as Gills beat Watford
Youth player Harry Waldock started in the centre of the park on Saturday and first-year pro Stanley Skipper came off the bench in the second half. It’s an area manager Mark Bonner knows they are currently light in numbers.
Summer recruit Little, who joined from AFC Wimbledon, looked bright against Millwall last weekend but rolled his ankle on the Monday.
Bonner said: “We will not see (Armani) probably in the next four friendlies. We have to him back in the week leading up to Carlisle.
“Ethan had a scan in the week on an ankle injury he had last season. He has been out really (since the) off season, resting that and rehabbing.
“He is not making much progress so he meets a specialist on Monday and we will get an idea on whether there needs to be any intervention on that.”
Attacking midfielder Jonny Williams sat the weekend game out with a groin injury while striker Josh Andrews came off in the second half after playing only half an hour.
Bonner said: “Josh has been dragging himself through the last few games with a bit of a tight quad.
“It’s a hazardous job this, it’s what happens when you’re working as hard as you are and training is as intense as it is, you expect that to be the case. There is no point risking people at this stage at all.
“We are making sure we push them but also get everyone fit for the start of the season.”
Ashley Nadesan trained on Friday after an injury kept him out of the opening few weeks of pre-season while George Lapslie is expected back this week, along with youngster Ashley Giles.
Nadesan and Lapslie are both available for transfer but Bonner’s keeping them involved, adding: “Everyone is here until they are not here.”
Gillingham play away at Dartford on Tuesday night.
