Gillingham could be missing another midfielder for the trip to Rochdale on Saturday.
Ollie Muldoon picked up a knock towards the end of Tuesday’s defeat to Bolton.
The former Charlton player was making his first start under Gills boss Ady Pennock.
Speaking about Muldoon’s performance, Pennock said: “He kept their wide player Morais quiet, we tried to do a man-for-man marking job with Ollie going over there but he can play anywhere.
“He got a nasty knock at the end and hopefully we haven’t picked up another injury because we are short. I thought he did OK, it was a good debut.”
Gills were already without fellow midfielders Chris Herd (knee), Scott Wagstaff (knee) and Josh Wright (suspended). All three are set to miss the trip this weekend.
Herd limped off last weekend against Scunthorpe as he struggles with the same problem that has blighted his time at the Gills.
“It is day-to-day and week-to-week with him,” said Pennock.
“His knee is sore and we will have to see what it is like.”
There might, however, be a return for Ryan Jackson, who has been suffering with injuries all season.
Pennock said: “I thought he might have a chance (on Tuesday) but he said he wasn’t pain-free. We will have to wait and see.”
