Invicta Dynamos start the new year looking get the better of a team who currently have the upper hand over them.
Solent Devils make the trip to Gillingham this Sunday for a final meeting between the sides in the regular season.
The Mos started the campaign with a 6-4 win over the Devils but then suffered a 9-1 loss against them and a penalty defeat at home when they met again in a weekend double-header.
That 5-4 shootout defeat in Gillingham cost the Mos a place in the semi-finals of the League Cup, a result which meant it was the team from Solent who progressed, taking the second placed spot in the cup table courtesy of that result in early November.
Head coach Karl Lennon said: “At the moment, they won in our rink, we won in their rink, and we had a shootout loss in our rink against them earlier this year as well so it's up for grabs to who wins the mini-series between the two sides.
“For us, we've got to get a result and we're focused completely on that.
“If we'd have just closed that (last home) game out for a win, we'd have been in the semi-final, so we only have ourselves to blame on that one.”
Just one place separates the sides in the league table but the Devils, with five more wins that the Mos, are 14 points ahead.
Invicta closed 2024 out with a double-header against league leaders Slough Jets, winning the first game on a penalty shootout and losing 7-3 in the return fixture on December 22.
“It’s nice for the boys to have had a break,” said the coach.
“Some picked up knocks, so it's given them some time to rest.”
Lennon will be hoping to make at least one addition to his roster if he can this month, in a bid to make them stronger, saying: “January has to be when we will do it, so by the end of the month we have to bring players in.
“It's just a matter of finding the right person that will fit that profile, really.
“We've identified a couple of players that we would like to bring through. It's just whether or not we can make that happen before the deadline but I'm confident on doing something.”
It’s ‘kids for a quid’ this Sunday, with tickets available online or on the door, with the offer available for up to a maximum of four children aged 5-15 with a full paying adult. Face-off is at 5.45pm.
