Sheppey player Charlie Minta has been crowned Kent Open pool champion 2021.
Minta beat fellow islander Ian Hubbard in the final - making it third time lucky after losing to him on his previous two meetings.
He said: “It’s always a pleasure to play Ian - he’s a gentleman on and off the table.
“I lost on a decider at the Maidstone Open and the second time he bashed me up, so it’s nice to be on the other end of it this time round.”
Minta went into the Kent Open in good form having recently won the Isle of Sheppey singles title.
After his win at the Chatham Pool & Snooker Club, Minta said: “It’s a massive achievement to even get to the final but to go on and win it is huge.
“I know there’s not been too many from the Island to have won it, so it’s nice to be in the same conversation as those guys.”
Minta defeated Steve Ritchie in the semi-final while Hubbard had seen off Ian Kettel. The winning cheque was for £500 while the runner-up took £200.
