Boss Justin Edinburgh heaped praise on Gillingham’s ‘Mr Versatile’ Aaron Morris.
Morris, who has been a regular in Gills’ midfield this season, was used as cover for the right-back position against Barnsley and switched to centre-back at Oldham.
Both times Morris had little time to prepare, after filling in for injury withdrawals
and Edinburgh has been grateful.
He said: “We know Aaron is capable, there is no doubt about that and he is a blessing in disguise to have him in the squad.
“He has been excellent wherever he has been asked to play. He has excelled in midfield over the last month.”
Morris had a tough assignment against Barnsley, as he was up against winger Adam Hammill, the Yorkshire side’s dangerman on the left flank.
The praise extended further than just the Gills boss.
Edinburgh said: “He slotted into right-back efficiently and the Barnsley staff said afterwards he was one of the only defenders that has managed to keep Hammill quiet this season. That speaks volumes.”
