Invicta Dynamos’ winning league run was ended by Cardiff NIHL Devils on Saturday.

The Mos, who were parading new Slovak import Marek Nahlik, suffered an 8-5 defeat in Wales.

That defeat followed six straight wins in NIHL Division 1 South and led to the Mos being knocked off top spot.

The Mos made a slow start in Cardiff, conceding three times in the opening 10 minutes, as well as losing forward Daniel Hammond to injury.

Peter Beerling, Nicky Lewis and Juraj Huska all netted in the second, to make for an interesting third period, with the scores at 5-3.

Cardiff managed to keep their noses in front to win the game 8-5. Nahlik added a debut goal, to make it 6-4 at one stage, but the Mos couldn’t keep the puck out of their own net.

Defeat also ended the Mos’ 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions but they bounced back on Sunday, beating Milton Keynes Thunder 15-5 in the Southern Cup.

Invicta ended the first period 4-2 ahead, with efforts from Andy Smith (2), Anthony Leone and Huska.

Smith completed his hat-trick in the second, while Nahlik capped his home debut with a goal as the Mos led 7-3.

Kevin Parrish’s men finished the weekend with a flurry of goals, eight coming before the end of Sunday’s match at Silverblades.

Nahlik completed a debut to the delight of the home crowd, while Huska and Smith both took their personal tallies to four.
