Gillingham keeper Stuart Nelson was all-too-happy to receive some verbal abuse from the opposition manager.
Scunthorpe boss Nick Daws, with tongue in cheek, thanked Nelson for a goalkeeping display that helped deny his team maximum points on Saturday.
Nelson pulled off a string of blocks as the League 1 clash ended goalless.
The Gills keeper said: “He told me to f-off and when that happens you know you have then done your bit.
“I enjoy being a goalkeeper and making saves. Some days you don’t have too much to do, you stand there and cover a couple of crosses and do a bit of kicking, but sometimes you get to show what you are about.
“On those days I do get the work to do and get to show my ability, that’s what makes me happy.”
Gillingham were on the backfoot for most of the game but managed to earn a point, ending a three-game losing streak.
Nelson said: “We had been on the back of a sticky run so it was always going to be difficult; the lads dug in well and the point was hard-fought. It stops the bad run.
“It was a positive result and a point away from home, which had we been on a good run we would have been happy with, so it is no different that we had lost the last three. We have got a point and now we can start looking forward again.
“This was a positive result for us. It wasn’t the three points we all wanted, but you have to take games on their own merit as well. We are under pressure and we have dug in and got a hard-fought point away from home.
“It is disappointing we lost those (previous three) but we are strong in that dressing room and we don’t want to lose the good work we have done up to this point.
“Anyone associated with Gillingham would say it has been a fantastic season, we don’t want to throw that away in the last 11-12 games of the season.”
