Stuart Nelson topped off a memorable few days by keeping a third straight home clean sheet on Saturday.
The Gills keeper has just become a father for a first time and is loving life.
He said: “People say having a kid changes your life and it has definitely done that for me. It has made me even happier to go out on that pitch.
“Playing for Gillingham has been my life for the last three and a bit years and I’ve loved every single minute of it. Now to come into work and have that, and to now go home and be a dad to my new baby, life’s great.
“You don’t want to get too carried away because there can always be problems around the corner but I am a positive person and you have to enjoy everything when it’s there.
"At the moment it is great at both places and we are top of the league. I have got no complaints.”
Nelson did admit the lack of sleep with a baby boy in the house made him a little edgy before kick-off.
He said: “It felt like it does when it’s too bright. ‘Can I open my eyes?’ I started to worry whether it was because I hadn’t slept properly all week.
“I was a little nervous and I had to get my experienced head on and be like ‘don’t worry, it’s not a problem’.”
