Gillingham had goalkeeper coach Ian Pledger in the dugout on Monday.
The former Peterborough coach, who left the London Road club in February, was with the Gills at Bury.
The Gills have been chasing a new goalkeeper coach after Jimmy Walker, another former Peterborough coach, recently left the club.
Pledger, a popular figure at Posh, left the club after boss Graham Westley said he decided to shuffle his backroom team, preferring to spend his budget on a defensive coach.
Westley, in the Peterborough Telegraph, said : "My decision is no reflection at all on Ian’s ability as a goalkeeping coach.
"He’s done a good job for us, but the budget doesn’t allow for us to have a defensive coach and a goalkeeping coach so I have decided to make a switch."
His availability was well-timed for the Gills, following Walker's departure, although no official confirmation has been made by the League 1 club over the new arrival and whether he is a long-term appointment.
Boss Justin Edinburgh was quick to act following Walker's exit, knowing what it meant to no.1 keeper Stuart Nelson, who has previously put his good form down to working with a full-time goalkeeper coach.
Pledger retired from the professional game after a spell with Luton Town, whose early plastic pitch did the keeper no favours.
A bad leg break eventually led to him dropping down into non league football, playing at the likes of Stamford, Spalding and Corby.
