Five-star Gillingham were too good for National League side Bromley on Tuesday night.
Summer signings Callum Reilly, Brandon Hanlan and Regan Charles-Cook were all on target in the win.
Josh Parker and Elliott List also netted at Bromley’s Hayes Lane.
Callum Reilly opened the scoring after just three minutes, rolling the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The lead was doubled after 20 minutes when summer signing Brandon Hanlan converted as Gills broke.
Bromley pulled a goal back shortly after when Tomas Holy’s clearance fell kindly for George Porter to finish.
Hanlan came close on a couple of occasions to scoring another against his former club and the Gills went into the break 2-1 up.
Gillingham made wholesale changes at the break and were soon 3-1 up, with Josh Parker scoring within three minutes of the restart.
The game was delayed for some time to treat Bromley’s Alan Dunne, who was carried off on a stretcher.
Gillingham scored a fourth with seven minutes left, as Liam Nash found Elliott List and they added another before full time.
Regan Charles-Cook found the top corner, despite the best efforts of the home keeper, from 18 yards.
