Boss Steve Lovell said his decision to hand Tomas Holy a start in goal again for Gillingham wasn’t a hard one.

Teenage keeper Tom Hadler made his Gills debut last week, in a 3-0 defeat to Blackpool at Priestfield.

Lovell was happy with Hadler’s display but Holy was back between the sticks for their match against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

“It wasn’t a hard decision at all,” Lovell said.

“Tomas Holy has had a very good season.

“I gave Tom a debut last week but Tom Hadler will have a lot more games, he is a good young keeper and I just wanted him to have a taste of League 1 football.

“Tomas Holy has been outstanding this year, the first part of the season particularly, it wasn’t a problem. Tom didn’t have a problem and Tomas was happy to be back in goal. He didn’t have that much to do and it just shows how well we defended the goal in front of him.”
