Gillingham have decided against offering winger Mark Marshall a new deal.
The wide-man was on a short-term contract which was due to expire after the game against Rochdale this weekend.
It's unlikely Marshall will be included in the squad this weekend, when the Gills travel to Rochdale, and he is now free to look elsewhere.
Fellow League 1 clubs Wycombe and Blackpool have both been linked to the former Port Vale and Bradford forward.
Marshall, 32, has started just three league games for the Gills following his summer switch, joining on a free after his release from Charlton Athletic.
His departure will free up more funds for manager Steve Evans to reshape his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
He's the latest player to leave the Gills after Ouss Cisse joined Leyton Orient for the rest of the season and Mikael Ndjoli returned to Bournemouth after his loan was cut short.
More on the Gills;
Evans, who is now down to the bare minimum of players in his squad, said: “Mark has been a great professional in his short time with us.
“At times he has been unfortunate and we all wish him every success in the future.
“With the lowest budget in League 1 we have to try our best to make sure every penny we spend on players gives maximum value so hopefully we can add to the squad in the key areas I have identified.”
While he has allowed some players to leave, defender Bradley Garmston remains available and midfielder Mark Byrne is out for the season, leaving just 17 senior players left for the trip to Rochdale.
