Gillingham manager Steve Lovell believes now was the right time to send Noel Mbo back out on loan.
Mbo scored for Kingstonian on Monday, on his second appearance since joining, helping them to a 4-1 win over Enfield Town.
The Gills boss said: “He is a good lad and he will get goals but you have to gauge the level he is going to.
“The main thing is having minutes on the pitch and getting some confidence by scoring a few goals.”
The loan runs until February 3 and Lovell added: “This gives Noel the chance for some game time and to score goals, and that is important for the boys.”
There’s plenty of other young talent in the Gills squad but Lovell is being cautious before sending anyone else out.
He said: “It would be nice if we could do it but from a selfish point of view, of the football club, we have to look at that first and the numbers around the club. We need people just in case they’re needed.”
Mbo, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, turned professional with the Gills last summer. He scored three goals in eight games during a loan spell at Kingstonian earlier this season.
Finn O'Mara, meanwhile, has extended his spell with Folkestone Invicta for another month.
