Gillingham striker Noel Mbo is hoping to win a contract abroad.
The 19-year-old is on trial with Swedish top-flight side Helsingborgs.
Gillingham confirmed today (Thursday) that the young DR Congo forward is with the Swedish side for a six-day trial.
He is training with the club ahead of a friendly fixture.
Mbo is a product of Gills’ youth set-up but his opportunities within the first team have been limited since earning a pro deal.
His one and only league appearances came off the bench in the 2-0 home win over Portsmouth on Boxing Day. He was an 89th minute replacement for Josh Parker, who has also recently departed the club.
Speaking at the beginning of the season, he was confident of challenging for a place in the first team, but his only other appearance this term was as a starter in the Checkatrade Trophy dead-rubber against Crawley Town.
There have been numerous changes of personnel at the club in recent weeks, with Parker heading to Charlton and Navid Nasseri having his contract cancelled.
Another forward, Liam Nash, is in talks with Irish side Cork City.
The Gills meanwhile have recruited a number of new players, all in forward positions, including Preston loanee Graham Burke.
