Justin Edinburgh praised the quality of striker Luke Norris following a heroic display at Bradford City.
The frontman went into the game with an ankle injury but netted the Gills equaliser and turned in a whole-hearted display.
He was eventually replaced with eight minutes left after wearing himself out.
Edinburgh, speaking after the 2-1 win over Bradford, said: “The goal was nothing short than he deserved.
“He has been outstanding for me this season. He works tirelessly, he holds the ball up and is playing well."
Norris has started all four of Gillingham’s games and netted their first goal of the campaign against Sheffield United.
Edinburgh is becoming a big fan of the 22-year-old former Brentford striker.
He said: “Luke has got all the tools. He has a manager that believes in him and he just needs to keep delivering. He is certainly doing that.
“He rolled his ankle in the warm-up at Bradford, which was not good but testament and credit to him that he played nearly the whole game with it. His goal was just deserts.”
