Jamie O’Hara is facing more frustration after picking up an injury.
The high-profile summer signing has barely featured for Gillingham since signing a week into the season.
Former Tottenham, Wolves and Fulham midfielder O’Hara has been limited to just three substitute appearances.
He played 35 minutes on his debut against Swindon in the middle of August but was then held back as the club looked to get his fitness up to a required level.
O’Hara played the second half of the Checkatrade Trophy match against Luton and came on towards the end of the recent Sheffield United match in League 1.
But he was absent last weekend and Gills boss Justin Edinburgh revealed that the 29-year-old has picked up a foot injury.
There is no serious injury suspected but he is a doubt for the weekend trip to Port Vale.
Edinburgh said: “We are seeing how that settles down. He picked it up in training on Friday.
“We have had an X-ray but it’s a difficult area on the bottom of his foot.
“It has been frustrating for him. We know the quality he has shown in the minutes he has had but we just have to grin and bear it.”
Loan defender Baily Cargill, meanwhile, is still training with parent club Bournemouth and is expected to link up with the Gills next week.
