Gillingham midfielder Darren Oldaker is available for transfer.
The 20-year-old didn’t make the squad at the weekend and boss Steve Evans has told the player he is free to look for another club.
Oldaker signed a new deal with the Gills in January, under former boss Steve Lovell, contracting him to the club until the summer of 2021.
Despite the new contract he only played five more games last season, playing 17 in total, and his chances of breaking into the Gillingham first-team under new boss Evans are limited.
Manager Evans said: “We just have to be fair to DJ, the kid hasn’t played a lot of football in the last couple of years.
“We have to look and say his competition is Ouss Cisse, Stuart O’Keefe, Mark Byrne, Matty Willock and probably one more coming in.
“It is all about opinions, he has some ability, but we are saying if you are fifth or sixth to go in there, you might as well go and get some football, that is the conversation we’ve had with DJ and it’s been very professional.”
Evans has no issues with the midfielder sticking around, however, and trying to win a place in the team.
He said: “If he wants to fight and try and get in then there is absolutely no problem.
"We do not have to get out to bring players in, that is the nice thing. Maybe it is even the case that if one or two leave then we could have the option to go and get someone on deadline day."
Josh Rees, meanwhile, also remains available, as does young midfielder Bradley Stevenson.
