Darren Oldaker has joined National South side Billericay Town.
The 20-year-old has been a free agent ever since agreeing a deal to leave Gillingham in August.
He had his contract - which was set to run until the summer of 2021 - terminated by mutual consent on August 21.
Oldaker played 33 games for the Gills and scored the winner against Slough in the FA Cup last season.
The midfielder was involved for Gillingham throughout pre-season but current boss Steve Evans was keen for him to move on, having brought in a number of his own faces.
He is expected to make his debut in their home game against Dorking Wanderers.
