Luke O'Neill has signed for Gillingham's League 1 rivals AFC Wimbledon.
The attacking right-back ended two seasons at Gillingham after being released this summer.
He made 76 league appearances for the Gills and scored some special goals too.
Following his move, the 27-year-old said: "Hopefully I can have a good career here and the club moving to a new stadium was also a factor.
"I played here last season and the fans get right behind the boys. For the first 30 minutes we were under pressure a lot of pressure, but the keeper made a mistake and it changed the game.
"When Iāve played against Wimbledon itās always been a tough game."
He spoke to current Gills midfielder Dean Parrett and former player Scott Wagstaff before making up his mind, having had other interested clubs.
O'Neill was deadly from set-pieces at Gillingham.
He said: "I fancy getting on set pieces and if Iām asked to do it I will.
"The manager maybe wants me to bring a bit more experience and maybe I can chip in with a few goals and assists."
