Emmanuel Osadebe could become Gillingham’s new Mr Versatile.
Over the past two seasons the Gills have relied on Aaron Morris to cover a variety of positions.
But with Morris now injured long-term, Osadebe is seen as the man to give them options across the pitch.
He played in midfield during the last campaign but has filled in at centre-back during this pre-season and boss Justin Edinburgh believes he could also be an option at right-back.
Edinburgh said: “We feel he could be the one who steps in for Aaron and could fill a couple of positions.
“I would like to see him at right-back because I think he is capable of that, for his pure energy and pace. He showed great quality on the ball at Dartford and can be a real big asset for us this season, as he was last.”
Osadebe played as a central defender early on in his career and Edinburgh has been impressed with the way he has adapted to the position at Gillingham.
“Paddy (Osadebe) has been outstanding,” said Edinburgh.
“He was assured and competitive (on Tuesday at Dartford) and used the ball well. We will look to continue to play him there because we know what he is capable of.”
