Gillingham boss Ady Pennock knows the battle isn’t over.
A win over Bristol Rovers on Friday lifted the Gills four points clear of the relegation zone.
But there is still work to be done to ensure they will be playing League 1 football next season.
“We are not safe yet,” said Pennock, ahead of today's trip to rivals Charlton.
“I have heard we might be taking 2,500 fans to Charlton and we have to get a result there, that’s for sure.
“We won’t take our foot off the gas.
Charlton v Gills preview
“If we lose at Charlton then we are back in it again. We aren’t out of it; we have to be rational and do things properly and look forward to Monday.
“I am not saying we are safe. We have three massive games (before the end of the season) and we have to be professional.
"We enjoyed the win (over Bristol Rovers) and now look to take this momentum onto Charlton. We want to do it for everyone connected with the football club.”
Monday’s opponents Charlton have struggled this season, with problems on and off the field. They were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom club Coventry on Friday and are just two points above the Gills.
“It’s an ideal game for us,” said Pennock.
“When we play the teams around us we haven’t been great but it’s not through the lack of effort. Maybe the quality hasn’t been there.
“Monday is perfect for us. We want to make sure we win and if results go our way then hopefully we will be safe, but we have to win the game first.”
