Paul Piggott has vowed to stay at Chatham Town even if the club are relegated.
Chatham are now 12 points from safety with just six games left following the 4-1 defeat against Ryman League Division 1 South relegation rivals Guernsey last weekend.
It was Chatham’s 17th home defeat of the season but Piggott, who guided Hollands & Blair to promotion to the Southern Counties East League for the first time in their history, says he won’t leave the club.
“I have spoken to (chairman) Jeff Talbot and (vice-chairman) Barry Adams about next season and things were positive,” said Piggott.
“I will be none too happy to walk away as I have been partly responsible if we go down. There is a massive desire on my part to bring us back.”
Piggott is the club’s third manager this season following Tony Beckingham and Darren Anslow.
He added: “I feel sorry for the committee who have been at the club for many years and have put so much time, effort and money into it.
“Also for the supporters who mostly watch us at home and have seen some of our worst performances. We have done everything we can to try and change things and improve but it just hasn’t worked.”
Chatham’s fate could already be decided by the time they are next at home against Molesey on Easter Saturday.
The trip to East Grinstead on Saturday is the first of three successive away matches, followed by the re-arranged trip to South Park next Monday and then Chipstead on April 8.
