Chatham boss Kevin Horlock has one eye on next season.
Horlock already has a shortlist of targets but insists his current players still have time to claim their spot.
He is aiming for big improvements next season after struggling towards the foot of Ryman League, Division 1 South having taken over from Kevin Watson earlier on in the campaign.
He said: “We still have games to go this season but we are planning ahead and the players need to impress me and show they want to be here next season.
“I have enjoyed working with every one of the lads but it’s a results business and the ball is in their court.
“We don’t want to be languishing towards the bottom again and are already starting to put bits in place.
“We have a shortlist of players we would like and at the end of the season we will look to do something.”
Horlock will look to promote players from the under-18s and under-21s if they impress, adding proven quality and experience alongside the youngsters.
Midfielder Josh Gibson is one of those pushing for a big part next season, having emerged from the under-21s.
Horlock said: “He was arguably the best player on the pitch against Hythe (last weekend). He deserved the chance and delivered."
Chatham are safe from relegation this season and have three games left, starting at home to Chipstead on Saturday.
