Points are all that matter now for Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh.
His side left Scunthorpe with a draw on Saturday after defending for much of the League 1 encounter.
The result, which ended a run of three straight defeats, was enough to move the Gills back up to third place in the table.
Edinburgh said: “It has given us a platform and a foundation after the three losses.
“Between now and the end of the season it’s results that matter and not performances.”
None of the top-four teams won at the weekend, leaving the Gills nine points off leaders Burton but just five behind Wigan, who occupy the second automatic promotion spot. Moving up to third was welcome news for Edinburgh after another tough match.
“It is a fantastic boost for the group,” he said. “We have had some disappointments of late and disappointing results, not so much performances.
“Against a strong Scunthorpe side, with a lot of men in their team, to get a point to move us up another place is brilliant.
“We are missing some big players. We are young, and they are giving everything they have got, and that is all you can ask as a manager.”
