Callum Davies was taking the positives from a disappointing performance.
The Gills defender helped the Gills to a goalless draw over Oldham on Saturday and said: “We went for three points but we got one and we have to be happy with that. Let’s move on to Tuesday and see what happens then.
“Although it wasn’t the best performance we know we can still get a clean sheet and so hats off to everyone.
“We have more points at this stage than last season and hopefully we can just kick on.”
Davies was playing right-back for the second successive game and, although admitting it wasn’t his preferred position, he was just glad to still be involved.
He said: “I do prefer to play centre-half but I just want to play football. I can play in different positions and I think I have played well, although maybe not (on Saturday).
“I have just been giving 100% and hopefully everyone respects that. The manager has shown faith by giving me a chance to play in different positions and hopefully I am repaying that faith.”
