Former Gillingham defender Zesh Rehman signs for Hong Kong Premier League side Southern

Zesh Rehman will be playing football in Hong Kong next season.

The 33-year-old defender finished last season with Gillingham but was not offered a new deal.

Rehman played 10 games for the Gills during his spell.

He has joined Hong Kong Premier League club side Southern.

The former Fulham and QPR defender is no stranger to playing abroad, featuring for Thai side Muangthong United, Hong Kong outfit Kitchee and Malaysian side Pahang.

Rehman’s time abroad ended when he joined the Gills in February, ending the club’s search for an out of contract defender to aid their survival bid.

His arrival came after the deal to bring Bondz N’Gala to the club fell through because of a FIFA ruling.

Rehman is the second defender from last season’s Gillingham side to find a new club in recent days, with AFC Wimbledon snapping up Deji Oshilaja on a free transfer.

Gillingham will have a new-look defence next season, following the arrival of a string of new faces. Luke O’Neill, Gabriel Zakuani and Alex Lacey have all put pen to paper this summer.
