Midfielder Callum Reilly says his loan move to Gillingham is one of the best decisions he made.
The move, which came out of the blue for the midfielder, has seen Reilly quickly become a popular figure at Priestfield, where he has also featured at left-back.
Reilly still has another year remaining on his contract with Bury but hasn’t ruled out a return to Kent in the future.
“It’s been a brilliant move for me,” said the midfielder, who has made 12 appearances since joining in January.
“The gaffer has been fantastic. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the summer, hopefully we will find out sooner rather than later.”
Reilly’s previous clubs have all been in the north or the Midlands but has relished his time down south.
He said: “I have really enjoyed it, we’ve had a few trips out down to Canterbury and stuff like that – it’s a beautiful part of England.
“I’m really grateful to the staff and players in how they’ve welcomed me. I hope they’ve enjoyed having me because I’ve enjoyed being here and I am delighted I made the decision.”
Reilly returned to the starting eleven on Tuesday night after picking up an injury in the game at Bradford.
Manager Steve Lovell would be happy for the 24-year-old to return permanently after his current deal expires.
Lovell said: “Callum is the kind of player we would like to get at this football club, he is a great lad and a good pro. If we can, I’d love to have him here. He knows how I feel.”
