Robbie McKenzie is back at Gillingham after failing to land a new club following his summer Priestfield exit.
McKenzie, 23, snubbed a new deal with the Gills at the end of last season after spending two years with the club. He left after being named the players’ player-of-the-year.
Former Hull man McKenzie can play in a variety of positions, including right-back and in midfield, which will be an added bonus for manager Neil Harris, with a small squad.
He left the Gills after making 71 league appearances over the past two seasons.
McKenzie's signing is the second on a busy last few hours of the transfer window for the club, following the loan signing of Portsmouth central defender Haji Mnoga.
