Medway Rugby Club youngster Tess White has been selected for the England Talent Development Group.
Under-18 player White, from Cliffe, has been at Medway for several years and she will be joining a programme which is part of the England Women performance pathway, identifying emerging talent at youth level.
Medway have a strong track record in producing talented players with England internationals Shaunagh Brown and Rachael Burford starting out at Priestfields.
The England development group will work on the fundamental, positional and off pitch skills to progress to senior Red Rose level.
White joined Medway Rugby Club over three years ago after attending one of their ‘Inner Warrior’ camps. Since then, she has progressed from under-15s up to under-18s, playing second row.
The club said: “From the outset Tess showed a natural talent for rugby, a strong physical player Tess dominates at the lineout and the breakdown. In addition to her physicality Tess is a skilled rugby player, with great hands, speed and overall rugby awareness.”
Medway have worked hard to grow their girls section and currently have 86 players with over 20 of those having county honours across the 15-18 age groups. With a thriving women’s section, the club has well over 110 female players and is an exciting place to be for female rugby players of all talent levels.
