Gills chairman Paul Scally has criticised Sky TV for their coverage of League 1 this season.
Gillingham’s only live game this season was the match at Wigan in January.
Justin Edinburgh’s Gillingham side have not been outside the top four of the division all season and Mr Scally said the decision to only feature one of their games as “baffling.”
He has, however, turned down the offer of broadcasting Gills’ final away game of the season, at Burton, for the sake of the fans.
Mr Scally said: “I find it baffling that despite our success this season that has led to us currently being joint top scorers in League 1, with 65 goals in 38 games, we have only been selected once for a live Sky game. That game was away to Wigan (the other side currently on 65 goals after 39 games).
“We did have a potential opportunity for our final away game against Burton to be selected as a Sky match but this would involve the game being moved from a 3pm kick off on Saturday, April 30 to the Bank Holiday Monday, with a 12.15pm start, so our decision was to put our fans first and kindly decline the offer.”
Gillingham face Coventry City at Priestfield on Saturday, a team who have been televised three times, although all of those have been away.
One of those games was at Peterborough, who also had a game at Southend featured, along with their FA cup game against West Brom.
Southend have had three games broadcast live on Sky TV, including the recent game against Sheffield United.
The Gills chairman believes the preference for certain clubs is harsh.
He said: “When I have received the distribution share within our league it is extremely worrying that two third of Sky broadcasting fees have gone to five clubs and this cannot be fair or right
“It is an issue that I will be strongly raising at the Football League’s annual conference come the end of the season as all clubs should be treated in a more equitable manner over the course of 46 games.”
Sky Sports have shown 26 League 1 games this season, covering 15 teams. Promotion-chasing Burton have been covered the most, four times, while Sheffield United, who are having another disappointing season, have has three live games.
Southend have been featured three time yet Barnsley, who sit seventh after a great late-season charge, have had no live TV coverage.
Millwall and Bradford, who are just below the Gills in the play-offs, have only had one game each, as have Walsall but they are scheduled for a second match, when they face Fleetwood in May.
