More than 1,000 people bought tickets for the Medway ‘homecoming’ show earlier this month and organisers are already planning a June event.
Former professional boxer Joe Elfidh, who manages most of those on the bill at the weekend, was delighted the show was a success.
He said: “Those that boxed made Medway proud and they all looked good.
“It was brilliant for local people to be able to come along and support them.
“Hopefully, we’re starting to put Medway back on the boxing map.”
Elfidh’s first promotion at the weekend was run in conjunction with his former boxing manager Stefy Bull, who put his licence on the line so the event could go ahead.
With Elfidh hoping to get his show licence soon, he hopes to organise another event this summer. He has looked at the Dickens World venue, where there is a large auditorium.
Elfidh said: “It would be a brilliant venue, similar to York Hall but I am not sure the management are keen.
“It was hard work organising my first show but everything is in place now and there are just a few things that we can change to make it even better.“
Elfidh announced two new signings to his management stable last Saturday, with Margate’s Edward Leach and Maidstone’s Chris Lawrence joining Box2Win.
He already manages a handful of Kent and Medway fighters and has big plans for some.
He said: “I know for a fact that one of these lads will become a British champion and could even go onto bigger things. Hopefully, they can bring some titles home to Medway.”
Boxers Ricky Rose, Sonny Whiting and Grant Dennis all enjoyed wins, as did Sheppey fighters Dave Jones and Oliver Edwards.
“Everyone boxed well and although Martin Hillman lost, I thought he was unfortunate and know he will come back stronger,” said Elfidh.
