Gillingham will be forced into making changes for the visit of Oxford United.
Justin Edinburgh’s side kick off 2017 with a home game today (Monday, 3pm) but they will be without suspended duo Paul Konchesky and Bradley Dack.
The Gills will have to fill Konchesky’s absence with an unrecognised left-back.
Edinburgh said: “People have been waiting and desperate to play and they will get a chance now. It’s an opportunity for those who come in and an opportunity to get back at home and get back on track.
“We have had difficult back to back away games against teams pushing and in fine form.”
With Bradley Garmston still out injured, Edinburgh spent the weekend assessing his options.
“It’s not ideal and Konch is our only out-and-out fit left-back but we have options there,” he said.
“We have dealt with it before, it is something we have to get on with and we will do.”
Both will miss one game after being sent off at Millwall.
Competition elsewhere is fierce, with midfielder Billy Knott the latest to miss out on a place in the squad.
Gillingham will look to finalise new arrangements for their five loan players after the Oxford game, along with forward Frank Nouble, whose short-term contract also expires after today’s match.
