A date has been set for Gillingham’s EFL Cup trip to Tottenham.
The third round tie will take place on Wednesday, September 21, with an 8pm kickoff.
Gillingham booked their place in the next round following a 2-1 extra-time victory over Watford at Vicarage Road last week.
The Gills were a goal down in that match before a wonder-strike from Mark Byrne levelled the scores and Bradley Dack hit the winner.
It was only the sixth time in Gillingham’s history that they had beaten top-flight opposition.
The trip to White Hart Lane will be the first for Gillingham, who are managed by former Tottenham player Justin Edinburgh.
Edinburgh won the competition with Spurs, as a player, in 1999. He was sent off in that match after a bust-up with Robbie Savage.
Reacting to the draw, Edinburgh said: “I’m delighted for the club and the players that we’ve been drawn against Tottenham. It’s a great reward.
“It’s not a bad one for me either. I had 10 great years at Tottenham. They are a huge part of my footballing life and it will be a proud moment when I take Gillingham to White Hart Lane.”
