Chatham Town boss Kevin Hake has praised the “unrivalled support” his team are getting as they battle on multiple fronts for silverware.

While the Chats are in the Isthmian League South East promotion hunt they are also now through to the Semi-Finals of the Kent Senior Cup and have a Velocity Cup Semi-Final match at Isthmian Premier Division title-chasing Aveley on Monday night.

Another four-figure crowd was at the Bauvill Stadium last Saturday as Chats were held to a 1-1 draw by Sittingbourne - the third time they have topped a gate of 1,000 for a league match in their last four fixtures.

Hake said: “Saturday’s crowd of 1,050 was amazing considering that both Gillingham and Maidstone were also at home.

“We are unrivalled in this league for our support and it really does make a difference, especially when things don’t always go right on the pitch.

“Our form of late has been indifferent but with 10 games to go we find ourselves in a great position still challenging on three fronts.

“The boys are really determined to do all they can to bring some trophies home as we approach the business end of the season.”

Joe Ellul scored for Sittingbourne on Saturday with an hour gone as they cancelled out Simon Cooper’s 13th-minute opener.

On Tuesday Chatham faced Corinthian in a Kent Cup Quarter-Final tie, just 10 days after beating them 1-0 in the league.

Callum Peck put Chats ahead after just seven minutes but Corinthian levelled. It remained 1-1 and went to penalties, where the Medway side prevailed, winning 5-3. Recently-signed goalkeeper Nathan Harvey made a save in the shoot-out and Dan Bradshaw converted the winner.

Hake said: “The Kent Cup is a great competition and it is one where we get to face the best teams in Kent. Corinthian was another tough test.”

Chats will now face the winner of Ebbsfleet and Welling United at home in the Semi-Final.

Goalkeeper Harvey joined ahead of the weekend after a head injury to Ben Bridle-Card ruled him out. The newcomer for Chats is an under-21 regular for Charlton Athletic and has signed on loan.

It’s back to league action on Saturday when Chats travel to lowly VCD Athletic.

Hake said: “Both will be tough tests but with the great support we have been receiving both home and away it will be like having a 12th player.”
